Abstract
Background. Modern Russia is once again in a situation of the need to define its identity, search for value orientations of its spiritual development, and define clear paradigms for the formation of a sense of patriotism among Russian citizens. Relevant in this context is the appeal to the legacy of Russian philosophical thought – classical Eurasianism of the 1920s–1930s, to the neo-Eurasian doctrine of A. S. Panarin, who developed the basic ideas of the Eurasians in his philosophy. In their concepts, Russia appears as a single original state, a special cultural and historical world. The purpose of this work is to highlight the importance of religion in the philosophical teachings of representatives of classical Eurasianism and A. S. Panarin, and to establish continuity in their views. Materials and methods. To achieve the purpose of this study, the works of classical Eurasians and A. S. Panarin, the works of modern researchers were studied. In the course of the research, the method of historical reconstruction, concrete historical and comparative historical methods were used. Results. The analysis of the philosophical views of classical Eurasians and the views of A. S. Panarin is carried out, which makes it possible to assess the role of the religious factor – Orthodox Christianity in their teachings on the fate of Russia as determining its further existence and development. The interrelation between the philosophical teachings of the classics of Eurasianism and A. S. Panarin is shown. Conclusions. The author came to the conclusion that Orthodox Christianity, according to the Neo-Eurasian A. S. Panarin and the classics of Eurasianism, is the basis for the existence of Russian civilization, constituting, on the one hand, its peculiarity and contributing to its development, on the other, allowing it to remain a stable state entity fulfilling its global purpose.
